The best lures to use on Inks Lake near Burnet, Texas
Inks Lake is a small, scenic Highland lake, and being on the smaller side you can fish it just about any way you like. I've been fishing it for over 50 years, and these are the lures I lean on most to put bass in the boat here. If you want to see how it stacks up against the other lakes I guide, take a look at my rundown of the best bass fishing lakes near Austin.
Shaky head on the rock piles
Inks has a lot of rock, and the rock piles are my go-to for both largemouth and Guadalupe bass - the state fish of Texas, and something you can only catch here in Central Texas. A shaky head with a trick worm, worked slow along the rocks, is one of the most dependable ways to get bit. Don't rush it - let it sit and shake in place, and be ready for a Guadalupe to hammer it.
Frogs and topwater in early summer
When the water warms up into early summer, the topwater and frog bite really turns on. Throw a frog around any cover you can find and work a small topwater early and late in the day. Because the lake is small, we can cover a lot of this kind of water in a single trip.

A frog like the Ribbit is hard to beat on Inks in early summer.
Flukes and worms around cover
Docks and hardwoods hold fish all over Inks. A weightless fluke is a great search bait around this cover, and a Texas-rigged straight worm or craw worm flipped into the shade will get bites when the fish pull tight. In the spring, flip the hardwoods and docks where the bass spawn and you can have a great day.

A fluke does a great job imitating the baitfish these bass feed on.
Slow down for the bigger bass
Same rule I preach on every lake: when you want a bigger bite, slow down. The little ones like to chase, but the better fish don't want to expend the energy. Work your worm or shaky head slower than you think you need to around the rock and ledges, and you'll turn up the quality fish.
Inks fishes best in spring around the spawn and into early summer, but the constant lake level keeps it worth fishing year-round. Let me know if this helps you have a better day out there - and if you'd like me to put you on them, book a trip and we'll go.
