Lake Austin is a hidden gem in Central Texas and one of the best lakes in Austin, Texas. Some of the largest bass in the area have been caught out of Lake Austin including the very biggest, a very nice specimen over 16 pounds. If you are looking for that lifetime record bass, there's a good chance this is where you'll catch it. Right now it has lots of grass, mostly hydrilla but has coontail, milfoil and even eelgrass too. Just how the old saying goes, 'Find the grass, you'll find the bass.' During springtime, we also come across and catch some nice white bass and catfish so there's plenty of other gamefish in the lake. There's lots of recreational traffic in the hotter months though, so an early half day is recommended during these times. In the summer months, I offer trips at night so you can have a nice quiet relaxing time going after those big bass.
