Bass Fishing Lessons & Coaching Near Austin

A coaching trip is a guided trip built around learning: we fish together, and I show you why each spot, bait and retrieve works - casting and pitching, reading cover, seasonal patterns, and how to run your electronics and sonar. You leave catching more on your own.

I'm a tournament angler and full-time guide with 26+ years on Central Texas lakes. On a normal trip I put you on fish. On a coaching trip I also explain the decisions - what the water, weather and season are telling us, and how to find the next bite without me. Beginners and serious anglers both book these.

What we can work on

  • The basics, done right - casting, pitching and skipping, setting the hook, landing fish. New anglers start with my beginner's guide.
  • Techniques - Texas rigs, jigs, crankbaits, topwater, finesse and more. Browse the technique guides and the rod & reel setups I use for each.
  • Electronics & sonar - depth finder settings, mapping and waypoints, building a milk run of spots, and forward-facing sonar.
  • Reading the lake - where bass sit by season, how fronts and water levels move them. See the bass fishing calendar.
  • Tournament prep - practice strategy and pattern-building from someone who fishes them.
