The best lures to use on Lake Marble Falls near Marble Falls, Texas
Lake Marble Falls is a little gem tucked between the more popular Travis and LBJ, and it fishes bigger than its size. It's really two lakes in one - a shallow, grassy north end and a deep lower end full of ledges and rock cliffs - so the lures change with where we are. Here's my rundown of the best bass fishing lakes near Austin if you want to see how it compares.
Topwater and moving baits up north
The north end is shallow, with grass and flats where topwater and moving baits seem to work best. In spring this is where those 30-pound best-five limits come from, with bass moving up on the grass and flats to spawn. Throw topwater early and cover the flats with moving baits.

Topwater shines on the shallow, grassy north end of Marble Falls.
Deep cranks and jigs down south
The lower end is much deeper, and that's where deep cranks and jigs shine along the many ledges and rock cliffs. As summer heats up and the fish slide deep, bounce a deep crankbait off the rock or work a jig down the ledges to reach the better fish.
Flip the docks
Docks are a great place to flip under and around for some nice bass, and they hold fish all day long. A jig or a Texas-rigged worm pitched into the shade is a reliable way to pick up quality throughout the trip, no matter what the rest of the lake is doing.
Slow down for the bigger bass
As always, when you want a bigger bite, slow down. Whether you're flipping a dock or working a jig down a rock cliff, a slower, more deliberate presentation is how you turn a good day into a big-fish day here.
Best of all, the recreational traffic is very low, so it's a relaxing day on the water. Let me know if this helps, and if you'd like me to put you on them, book a trip and we'll go.
