Here are some of the things to look for on Lake Buchanan

Rocks

On Lake Buchanan, the number one go-to structure is rocks, rocks and more rocks. Did I mention rocks? The largemouth bass on this lake love rocks, as they can hide and keep away from the Striped bass on this lake. Whenever you have a healthy population of Stripers, it moves the largemouth in shallower as they don't mix well and will get eaten by them. Some of the best lures to use around the rocks are jigs, crankbaits and swimbaits. A frog will work very good as well as long as the rocks are just under the surface. Other baits that work well are a craw worm, straight worms and shaky heads with a trick worm. Work these slow as the bass will hammer them better. Sometimes if you want bigger bass, slow down. When you think you are slow enough, slow down more. I can't reiterate this enough. That's how I catch bigger bass. The smaller bass like to chase, the bigger bass don't like to expend their energy as much normally is why you'll usually catch bigger ones when slowing down.

Trees/Brush

Another good structure to look for and fish on this lake are the trees and any brushpiles you can find. These are usually good on most lakes. Some of the best lures to present here are flukes, craw worms and straight worms. You can also work a swimbait or spinnerbaits/chatterbaits through the trees to get those reaction bites. In the springtime, when the bass are spawnig, always look for trees on the flats and shallow areas and flip all of them with worms and craw worms to get a lot of bites as they almost always spawn by them.

Points and Ledges

As with any lake, always look for these types of structures as bass relate to them well. This is a great place to throw jigs, shaky heads, Carolina rigs or a deep crankbait to reach those fish. If you can find points and ledges with rocks on them, even better!

Let me know if this information helps you to have a better day on my favorite lake in central Texas.
