Here are some of the best baits to use on Lake Bastrop near Bastrop, Texas
Topwater Lures
These are the most fun baits you can throw on Lake Bastrop if the conditions are right. When the water starts getting hot in the summertime this is when these lures gets good. Bass will start schooling then and a small topwater bait works great. I've found that the smaller the profile, the better for these bass as they are chasing very tiny baitfish. Using a clear baby torpedo, or other brand, small clear topwater works well.

Example of a Topwater Lure, a Baby Torpedo.
Frogs
Frogs are a great lure when the conditions are right on Lake Bastrop. There's lots of areas you can throw these including along the dam, along the reeds and anywhere there's underwater vegetation like hydrilla or eel grass.

Example of a frog, the Ribbit Frog.
Flukes
These are some of the best lures to use as there are lots of bluegill in the lake. A fluke is a great way to mimic these and bass love them.

Worms
These are easy to use and catch lots of bass here. All you need to do is run around and find some good grass growing in 5-12 feet of water and chunk a worm around it with it either Texas-rigged that's weightless or with a small bullet weight. You'll catch plenty of bass doing this.
