FOM Tournament - Canyon Lake 1/31/2026
My partner and I fished the first Fisher's Of Men Tournament Trail on good ole Canyon Lake. We practiced the day before and it seemed to be pretty tough. We both only caught a few looking around in our separate boats for most of the practice.
It wasn't until I happened to check on one more area that I got excited about for the next day. It was a large super shallow flat that was right on the edge of the river channel. It was full of hydrilla and I found the fish stacked in here. I threw a red trap a few times and caught a few very fast and they were healthy.
On tournament morning, we went straight to this area and started catching them on the trap pretty quick. We stayed here for a long time and had some decent fish so decided to hit a few spots my partner found. On the first area, my partner caught a nice smallmouth which definitely helped. There was not much else we found so we went back to where we started.
Hitting it pretty hard, we caught a few more while sharing the water with another team that ended up in 2nd place. We finished the day here and headed in.
When we weighed in, we were leading the tournament with 17.34 pounds and I just knew someone would knock us out. That never happened though and we won! Not by much though as that other team I mentioned had 17.18 so it was close. I'll take it! Thank the Lord! What a blessing!
