A July evening on Lake Austin in 2005 - grass-line largemouth in the middle of summer. The water was super clear and the bass were on their annual fake spawn. We call it that because the water comes out from Mansfield Dam at around 60 degrees - the temperature bass spawn at around here, normally in March. When the water runs that cool in July or even as late as August, bass can set up on beds and spawn again, sometimes with 2-3 females per male, on the upper end of the lake. If you look at this bass' tail, it's bloody, which usually means it was on a bed - so it's no surprise that's where I caught it. Good times!
