A July evening on Lake Austin in 2005 - grass-line largemouth in the middle of summer. The water was super clear and the bass were on their annual fake spawn. We call it that because the water comes out from Mansfield dam and it's around 60 degrees. That's the temperature that bass spawn around here, but mainly in the month of March. When the temp is that in July or even as late as August, the bass can set up on beds and spawn again sometimes with 2-3 females per male and on the upper end of the lake. If you look at this bass' tail, it's bloody, which signifies that it was probably on a bed. So it's no surprise that, that's where I caught it. Good times!
