Brush pile fishing uses electronics to find submerged brush and standing timber, then picks the fish off with jigs, worms and finesse baits. On timber-filled and clear Central Texas lakes it is a reliable way to catch quality bass that stack tight to isolated wood.

How to fish the Brush Pile Fishing

  1. Idle and scan with 2D, side imaging or forward-facing sonar to find brush.
  2. Mark the brush and position off it.
  3. Cast a jig, Texas rig or drop shot to the cover.
  4. Let it fall into the branches and work it slowly through.
  5. Set the hook and pull the fish up before it wraps you.

Retrieve: Vertical or short casts to the cover; slow fall and gentle work through the branches.
