Choke Canyon Fishing Report - January 12, 2008

Fished Saturday 7-4pm. The bite was pretty slow all day. Started off throwing a trap and landed a good one in the 6lb range. We also caught a few smaller ones using the same. Later on we switched over to throwing crankbaits and landed a few in the 4lb range. We mostly stayed on main lake points anywhere from 8 feet to 25+ foot depths. Around midday, we landed an 8lb sow after a pretty good fight putting us around 23-24lbs. We headed out to a deep ledge to try to find a big one throwing big plastics, jigs and cranks. After a good fight with a big fish, we soon saw what was not a bass. It was a gaspergoo over 10 lbs. We then left to find some new water and found a nice wind blown multipoint area where we landed a few 2lbers and then another 4lber putting us around 27-28lbs.
Sunday, we just wanted to look around and try to find some new spots. We hit up several areas to try to expand from the day before only to find what seemed to be an even tougher day. We caught less fish and never found a big bite. We ended up with only a few in the 2-3lb range but found some nice areas that should be producing pretty good here soon with the spawn coming up.
