Lake Austin Fishing Report - October 2, 2008

Fished Lake Austin from 7am till 2pm. Fishing started out slow with one here and there on flukes. At 9 the dam started generating and the bite picked up. Hit a row of docks with some decent depth and the bite was nice on frogs, flukes and traps. The size wasn't there yet but several in the 2-3lb range. At 11:30 I decided to make a long run and hit some different kind of water with lots of grass on some flats. Bingo. Client had one on about 8-9lbs with 2 followers that were even bigger. One jump though and that fish was gone. We worked the area a little longer after seeing another big girl come back in there but no takers. We moved down the bank about 20 yards and after retying my clients line, he threw in and another good one slammed him. This one was close to 7lbs and this time I was able to get him in the net. ;-) We worked the bank down and missed a few takers and I then hit one close to the size of his 7. Fun stuff. I found one more wolf pack of 3-6lb fish but no takers so we decided to call it a day. We had a good day with best 5 going over 20lbs. Nice...
