Lake Austin Fishing Report - May 29, 2013

After a great day on Fayette County with clients, I decided to hit the jackpot tournament on Lake Austin fishing solo. Turned out to be a good decision. I started out on an area I've hooked some good ones throughout the spring using deep cranks. I worked the area pretty good for over an hour until I saw the group of fish I was after on the graph. I backed the boat off from them and first cast I caught one over 4. The next cast, I caught one over 7 and the next cast, hooked a giant and it stripped out drag but came off only a few seconds later. After working this area over and only catching one more 2.5 - 3 lb bass on an Alabama rig, it started getting dark on me and I left for another area with a few docks and I was able to finish out my limit using a senko and the bama rig. Just before the end of the tourney, I hit one last spot with a senko and caught 2 but they wouldn't help me. I ended up with 18.07 lbs and took second place honors out of 31 teams. Good times and that was the 3rd check out of 6 tries. Good stuff...
