Lake Austin Fishing Report - July 10, 2008

Headed back out in the evening to Lake Austin again from 7 to 9 in hopes of catching some more big girls. Decided to hit the spot where the 8lber came from the day before. First cast in the exact same spot, Oscar got slammed by one around the 6-7lb range. After fighting it for a bit though, using very light line, the line snapped right under the boat before I could get the net under her. Bummer! We did manage a few more in this area and moved down just a bit and we got into some fun ones in the 2-3lb range. Caught on worms, flukes, creature baits and a trap. Landed around half a dozen just on a trap. They were hitting it hard as the trap was completely in their mouths every time. One of the fish I hooked into was giant. After fighting it without much luck I realized it was a really big carp that I had snagged on the dorsal fin. Probably 25-30lbs. The lure finally ripped free after a long battle. All the guys on the boat caught fish and it was another fun day on the water.
