Lake Austin Fishing Report - August 20, 2008

On the water August 20, 2008 · Lake Austin · by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs

Hit Lake Austin from 6:45pm till 8:30pm. I started down lake throwing flukes under docks. This worked well as there were 1-3 bass under every dock I fished. I caught them up to 2.5lbs. After about an hour I decided to head up for a big bite. The plan worked. I found an area with some nice milfoil and went to work. After working about 40 yards, I hooked into a good one. After a few jumps and drag stripping, I landed a 9-03lb toad. Strong fish. On the next cast I caught a 3.5lb bass that jumped around like a lady fish, rarely going under the water. Crazy. Caught a few more before nightfall and headed in. Best 5 went 19-20lbs.
