Lake Bastrop Fishing Report - August 30, 2021

Lake Bastrop was a little on the tougher side but everyone still caught plenty of bass. We had a 10 boat trip out there and it started at 1pm. There was a little bit of schooling activity and you had to get on it really fast if you wanted to catch them while up in the water column.

Small straight tail swimbaits worked good using really light weighted hooks either belly-weighted or like a tiny ned jig head. Colors working were bright white to any shad colors. You could also catch a few using tiny topwater lures like a tiny torpedo or spook jr in the clear color.

If you dropped a small spoon down, you can pick up quite a few off the bottom and even latch on to a big flathead or carp as several of those were caught on some boats. All in all, the spoon outfished any other bait on all the boats. Even when hot and a little tough, we'll still catch fish and have a great time.
