Fayette County Fishing Report - February 6, 2012

Fishing was a bit slower than usual but at least the boat traffic was near non-existent. We started off on an old grassline that pretty much turned to muck. Caught a few decent ones on senkos. We then moved on to a deeper rock pile on a creek channel. Not a bite. The bass were tight lipped with the front moving through. We made another move to the discharge and picked up some here right away with a few more good ones. After the bite stopped, moved over to a spawning area and had 2 big blowups on a frog. They looked to be very solid fish but couldn't get a hook in them. Hit another spawning area and did pull one in off of here with a frog and a few on a fluke. Kept moving around trying to find that school of fish and finally found them piled up off a point around a nice rocky bottom. Caught several on worms and crankbaits to finish out the day. Ended up with about 20 chunks in the 2-3 lb range. At the end, though had one in the 6+ lb range blowup on a frog and then spit it when it jumped a few feet out of the water. Fun times!
