Lake Austin Fishing Report - May 22, 2013
On the water May 22, 2013 · Lake Austin · by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs
After a front moved through the previous night, I took some clients out looking for that big bite. Realizing the front might have knocked the bite off, you can sometimes get a big bite in those situations. After only catching a few up to 4 lbs, we hit another area where some big ones hang out. I threw out a deep diving crankbait a few times just to maybe see the size of fish that were there and finally got a small tick. The fish came straight up and looked to be in the 10-11 lb range and it threw the hook. I immediately handed the rig over to my client to work the area. After several casts, he finally hooked a nice fish and fought it for a little while and when we finally landed it, he knew he had his personal best. She was a healthy fish and weighed in at 8.28 lbs. It turned out to be a great day even though the bite was well off. Congrats on a PB!
