Fayette County Fishing Report - December 8, 2012

As you read on Tuesday, this lake is still going strong. After my prefishing went well, I started out at the same spot with my partner for the day after the draw, Jacob. It was the right call as we had a limit each before 8am using almost solely traps. I was using a solid red one and he was using a sexy shad colored one. He grabbed a 20.5" and a 19.5" off this spot. After the bite stopped there, we headed out to the discharge where Jacob quickly hooked into another 19.5" on a 10" worm in the grass. We didn't catch a lot here so we then moved on to the intake where some rocks are out in deeper water and first cast, Jacob hooks another 19.5". He's sitting on 20+ lbs and is looking really good for the tournament. I needed some more good ones so off we went again when we could get any more bites. After hitting a few more spots, I decided to just go back and camp out on the start spot to finish the day. After landing a few that wouldn't help with only 20 minutes remaining, I finally landed a good one at 20.5" and then with only 10 minutes remaining, I got our big fish of the day at 21.5" in about 2 feet of water. These fish were really healthy and weighed quite a bit more on a scale than on paper. After we headed in, we ended up winning by 8 pounds with 39.07 lbs and I ended up with the Angler of the Year title in the Big Sandy Creek bass club. What a day and a great win all around...
